Riga!

So at the end of July I packed my bags and moved to Riga, Latvia! A strange place to move you might think, seeing as there are alot of Latvians moving to our emerald isles (they must be hiding, i've only ever met one Latvian girl in Dublin!)! I was given the opportunity to study here for one semester, for =erasmus=.

Sounded like an adventure! I went a little bit earlier to do a Latvian Language course, not very good i'm afraid. Es esmu Steph! Tagad es dzivoju Riga. Es studeju Makslas! :)

August was lovely, full of sun and culture. We went to museums, took trips to places like Cesis, a countryside area, with a little city and a fantastic castle! We lay on the grass and watched the stars fall from the sky! I managed to pass the language course and find myself a home here i Riga!

Pen Pal Pears exhibition, July 2010

The Little Ghost Gallery in Kilkenny held a really interesting exhibition in July called =Pen Pal Pears= which i took part in.

The show was all about creating a piece of work with someone you have never met, using the post. The first time you meet your creative partner is on the opening night of the show !.

It was open to musicians, actors, writers, poets, photographers and artists from all walks of life! I'm a firm believer in letter writting and it was such a super experience to take part in it!

So this is a photo from the finished =piece=, myself and paula mcgloin (rubywave.ie) my creative partner! sent back and forward four little canvases, adding to them each time. You can see them in the photo displayed with all our letters of correspondence!

Thinking along the lines of trying to set up an international art exhange/collaborative project in the future too! anyway, just thought this'd be interesting to share!
